Rel – “KILLACYPHER ft ARSONIST (CYPHER HIP HOP/UNIVERSAL BATTLE TRACK)”
First off thanks for taking the time to chop it up with Earthlings Entertainment. Personally I am stoked to see locals making big waves and can’t wait to see where this takes you. That being said, let’s discuss REL.
Since you have been in the scene for a while now (I don’t know if you remember but we used to freestyle in the parking lots of shows at what was once the Big Easy and also the Power House) but I know you’ve been around for a minute, so how did Rel progress from just kickin it and spittin rhymes to being an artist under Wu-Tang management?
Rel: I started to progress when I realized that I had the ability to reach heights I never thought possible. With a work ethic second to none, a dream to succeed, and understanding the business behind the music, I flourished when it came to networking with executives and CEOs. It took patience, determination, and sheer love for music to overcome the many obstacles and to get where I am today. And even then, there’s still so much more to accomplish.
Tell us a little more about Wu-Tang management and what plans you have as one of their artists?
Rel: Wu-Tang management consist of a series of managers who are overseeing my career. The CEO is John Forbes Gibbons, who is also known as “Mook”. I was discovered by one of his road managers, who is now the Vice President of Protect Yah Neck [sic] Records, Frank J. Newman, also known as “Nitty”. Together these two executives have given me a chance to use them as my platform for success across the world. I plan on taking this opportunity as far as I can take it, all good things come to an end, so before that happens I plan on using every resource I can from it to better my career in the future.
Why is Legacy Reborn so important to you, and what do you hope to accomplish with the release of this album?
Rel: Besides it being an album I almost died for, it’s also a collection of stories of my life i’ll never forget, and an answer to my years of prayers. I’m hoping to touch many lives with my message, and achieve real industry success at the same time. Fans can expect nothing less than the best when they hear my album. It’s ear candy, it’s a display of every popular genre today, put together to perfection! Basically, the fans are receiving the voice of this generation.
What we can expect for the future of Rel?
Rel: You can expect me to keep rising, succeeding, and overcoming! You can expect me to get better, better and better until my last breath. You can expect the best! You can expect timeless music! You can expect consistency! You can expect the extraordinary, the different, a leader in this music business! And finally, you can expect me to give it all I got for my fans, I love them and thank them for believing in me.
