On this fine day, we proudly present to your ears a moment of introspection.
As some of you may be aware, May is national Mental Health Awareness month- a tradition that has been observed in the United States since 1949, headed by the Mental Health America association (previously the National Association for Mental Health). In observance, we encourage all people within our borders to partake in activities and events in a valiant effort to curb misguided minds, end baseless stigmas, and promote community and self-awareness. The idea is to retain and invest interest in mental health, seeing as all of us possess neurodivergences to some varying degree.
The 2017 theme for Mental Health Month is ‘Risky Business.’ MHA believes that it’s important to educate people about habits and behaviors that increase the risk of developing or exacerbating mental illnesses, or could be signs of mental health problems themselves. These include risk factors such as unsafe sex practices, prescription drug misuse, internet addiction, excessive spending, marijuana use, and troublesome exercise patterns.
Talking about these risk factors might sem particularly invasive or harrowing for the individual, but- in a country with an omnipresent opioid addiction- it’s a conversation necessary to have indefinitely across all consumable media platforms. We’re happy to report that yet another contender has joined the fray of artists making a proper stand. Enter Axiom The Wyze- a lyrically reflective emcee that just joined the Imminence Records roster. The Boise, Idaho native proudly and prominently makes his stand on the alarming issues concerning risky coping mechanisms and mental health with his debut single, “Demons” (feat. Sergio), in which he decidedly calls on the carpet his own engagement with substance abuse in relation to his struggles with depression.
I do believe that this is where we effectively pass the mic.
Without further ado, we are pleased to present- in conjunction with Mental Health Awareness Month- Axiom Tha Wyze’s “Demons” (feat. Sergio), off of his upcoming Imminence Records 2017 debut Kiss The Chef.
Depression is a chemical imbalance of the brain. After I realized that it became manageable in my life and I stopped using substance abuse to try and fix it. Replacing the negative with something positive, for me it was music, helped save my life. That’s essentially what this song is about is the internal struggle of battling depression.” – Axiom Tha Wyse
About Axiom Tha Wyze
Long ago when the world was in peril, a culture rose from the ashes and rubble to bring a voice to the misfits of the land. A culture rooted in brotherhood, art, and style. Few were chosen to lead this culture and the ones that did contained it’s spirit in 4 physical elements: DJ’s – Emcees – B-Boys/B-Girls – Graffiti and the fifth element that hold them all together, knowledge. This culture was referred to as Hip Hop. Through the generations the spirit of Hip Hop was passed like a torch to many, some carried it with pride while others used it for foolish and selfish gain. Those that chose the righteous path have lived in the shadows, guiding the spirit through the ages teaching the starving misguided youth the ways of Hip Hop. Now one Emcee emerges from the smoke to bring the fire and passion of the originators back to the culture, his name is Axiom Tha Wyze. This Boise, Idaho native has learned from the masters and strives to perfect his craft to bring you the raw rugged style of the legends before him and uplift his generation for the sake of peace, love unity and having fun.
