Konnexion Goes Big For The 5th Year Anniversary
Konnexion Music Festival in the Boise National Forest will be better than ever this coming July 7-9 for its much anticipated 5th year anniversary. Organizers secured a stellar location at Twin Springs where attendees will camp in Idaho’s beautiful mountains with easy river access and hot springs just two miles up the road. This improved location paired with a jaw-dropping lineup makes Konnexion an absolute must for the 2017 festival season!
The key to a good music festival lineup is diversity, and Konnexion organizers did a fantastic job booking a wide range of genres to please everyone. You’ll easily hear Dubstep, Psy-Trance, and everything in between throughout the weekend.
The Polish Ambassador (David Sugalski) is the headlining artist, which is impressive for a smaller gathering like Konnexion. David is well-known for his eclectic sets that feature everything from glitch-hop to downtempo groove. On top of this, they also secured popular bass artist Buku and Dimond Saints along with Boogie T for some grimy dubstep. Psychedelic bass music is thick in the lineup this year with performances by Govinda, Hedflux, and Whitebear, who is world-renown for his unique blend of mid-tempo progressive beats. There’s also a Street Ritual takeover featuring spacegeishA, Soulacybin, and AMB. Trance and techno lovers will enjoy a jaw-dropping set by Los Angeles artist Christopher Lawrence, who is popular for his dedication to underground trance.
While all of these the bigger names are great for Konnexion, they also support local talent by booking up-and-coming DJ’s in the Boise music scene like Jakzon, EESSiK, No Profit, Something Spicy, and Dose Amigos.
Aside from the music, there will be plenty of workshops, performance art, live painting, and sculpture construction going on throughout the weekend as well. Masc Studios from Missoula, Montana will feature over forty live acts throughout the weekend ranging from aerialists to fire performers, stilt walkers, and more. Stay tuned for workshop and performance artist announcements in the coming weeks through Konnexion’s Facebook page.
As far as live painting goes, organizers gathered dozens of local painters and even have artists traveling from Chicago, Washington, Utah, Montana, and Oregon to showcase their talents.
Konnexion is more than just a music festival; it’s about building a community of like-minded people. Founder and organizer Brandon Lee strives to add things each year that appeal to the conscious mind of attendees. Brandon says that “Konnexion is about bringing people together to really connect. We are meant to come together as community members to create, share, learn, and enjoy these things we all love.” With an attendance capped at only 1,000 people this homegrown family vibe will be unparallelled.
Compared to years past, Konnexion has made some massive improvements for 2017. The new location is a famous local favorite known as “The Meadow” where Esthetic Evolution was held for years. You can expect a dedicated food court area with more vendors offering vegan and vegetarian options, seated tables, and shade. Some popular returning vendors include Twisted Sisters Coffee, Wetos Locos Tacos, and Mister BBQ.
There will be enhanced stage designs this year created by Kissee designs and CP Audio with LED paneling and lighting for the main stage. Local artists and production companies are curating the two secondary stages, which will be the late-night spots after the main stage completes each night. An 85-foot mandala dome functioning as a communal gathering area will host conscious hip-hop performances, yoga, and other workshops.
The hype around Konnexion this year is unreal. A dope lineup, killer location, and new level of local collaboration make this a do-not-miss event! Tickets are on their final tier and selling fast, so be sure to buy your tickets soon. We’ll see you at The Meadow!
